Dr. Victor R. Aguilan  Scripture Text:  Luke 16:10-13 10“Whoever is faithful in a very little is faithful also in much; and whoever is dishonest in a very little is dishonest also in much. 11 If then you have not been faithful with the dishonest wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches? 12    if you have not been faithful with what belongs to another, who will give you what is your own? 13 No slave can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other or be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth.”   Most of you came to the Seminary because you want to be trained in the ministry. CHRISTIAN EDUCATION AND MINISTERIAL CALLING

Image
Scripture Text:  Luke 2:52; Eph. 4:11-14 Introduction             As we all know, we are still in the observance of Christian Education and Nurture month. Interestingly, among all the monthly emphases that we religiously observe as a Church throughout the year, CEN top it all in terms of activities involving all age groups in the local church. As I always say, Christian Education is an all-embracing ministry of the Church. Every aspect of the church’s life and ministry has an element of Christian Education. Christian Education and Nurture also shape the life and witness of every believer. Moreover, the kind of impact that a local congregation makes upon the community where it is located is a concrete manifestation of the kind of Christian Education and Nurture Program that a particular local church undertakes. Along with all of these, let us always bear in mind that we, pastors and soon-to-be pastors play a pivotal r...

The Lord Reigns!

Image
by Rev. Dr. Noriel C. Capulong Scripture Text: Psalm 97:1-12   Hebrew 11: 1-3   Good morning! I want to make use of one very central proclamation in the book of Psalms as the primary subject of our reflection this morning. The Lord reigns ! In other translations, such as NRSV the passage is rendered as “The Lord is king!” But the translation of the RSV and even the NIV I think captures more accurately the active, dynamic sense that is being conveyed by this verse. We may be acknowledging that God our Lord is king, but that could be all there is to it. It’s just the title that is ascribed to him. It really does not convey anything dynamic about being king aside from the image of an old man simply sitting on the throne with a scepter on his hand. That’s all.   The translation, “The Lord reigns” however conveys an image not of someone sitting on a throne with a scepter. But the image of a person     who is actively involved in the life of his people and ...

This is a great opportunity to share on this topic: Problems and Issues Experienced by Churches in CHRISTIAN EDUCATION at The Period of COVID 19 Pandemic. To start with my presentation let me have a working definition of what I learned about what Christian Education is. I.                    CHRISTIAN EDUCATION Refers to all efforts of the whole church (not just the pastor) to make known the love of God in Christ Jesus so that people of all ages (from the womb to tomb) will respond (turning towards God-being God-centered) in faith, grow (the growth is both social and spiritual a holistic growth) as children of God, sustain a meaningful relationship within the community of believers (UCCP and other believers) and l...
